This time the ride was named “Surf and Turf” because we were going to see some of the country’s best coastline and then head off to the rural area of Picton in Sydney’s South West.

Before I go any further I must say the two men responsible for this great ride were Sydney H.O.G. members Fred Madderom and Russell Brown. Both men really put a lot of thought and planning into this event to ensure its success.

We all met at Trivett Harley-Davidson Sydney’s store at Waterloo at 8.30am for a 9.am departure, all 37 bikes got away on time and all in traditional H.O.G. formation.

The ride took us all through the Royal National Park. This section was great and with little traffic we were all able to enjoy the road ahead. First stop was Stan Well Tops lookout for a coffee and a chat. The views were amazing on what was fast becoming a perfect day.

It wasn’t long before we were on the bikes and heading down to sea level then south along the coast and riding the new bit of coast road which is just something you need to do to appreciate what went into building it.

Soon we were heading up the mountain to Mt Kiera lookout; this place is amazing with 180 degree views of the entire coast line.

The heat was starting to rise so we all had a cool drink and set of for the trip inland to Picton.

We all got to the George IV Inn around 12.15pm. Fred and Russell had arranged a private Barn for us, which was great! It had music playing and the sandstone floor and walls meant it was cool inside. The lunch was great value with $20.00 buying you a BBQ lunch and a cold beer.

After a great lunch and some light refreshments the team broke up into groups based on destinations for the final journey home.

A special thank you to all the team members who helped us make our second ride such a great success.

If you aren’t a member of Sydney Chapter and would like to be, see the H.O.G. tab on our home page.
